You
might not have seen this yet, but we use collectible stamps
on much of our business correspndence. We find the stamps
themselves interesting both artistically and for historical
reasons. We also find them to be another valuable small step
in maintaining long term relationships with our clients.
Many people ask, "Why are you using up all these neat old
stamps?" Before you rush out and call your local philatelist,
you should know that we use old stamps that are still in good
supply. Every time the Post Office changes stamp denominations,
literally tons of stamps become outdated and are considered
a nuisance. For example, by now you are using one 34 cent
stamp instead of some combination of earlier denominations.
But not us! We love these stamps and we know how to use them.
When we prepare to mail something, we select stamps with themes
that would be of interest to the person receiving the envelope
or parcel. these "client-related" stamps can range from airplanes
for our defense industry clents to famous inventors for our
high-technology clients.
While
some of these stamps are available in different stamp and
coin shops, we find the best sources are the stamp shows which
are held at various convention centers and hotels around the
Bay Area.
We
buy most of the stamps from dealers at their face value. Then
we take the time to catalog them by postage value. We organize
the stamps in clear photo display pages and when we have a
stack of letters to send, out comes the album!
